Terms of Service
Effective: 23 July 2026 · Last updated: 23 July 2026
These Terms are the agreement between you and Sorion Pty Ltd (ACN 700 168 038, ABN 52 700 168 038), trading as VOID (“VOID”, “we”, “us”), for the VOID app and related services. By creating an account or using VOID you agree to these Terms and the Community Rules — the plain-language version of the conduct rules. If they conflict, these Terms control.
VOID is in early access (beta). Features may change, be added, or be removed as the service develops.
1. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older. Don’t use VOID if you’re under 18, if we’ve previously banned you, or to create an account for someone else.
2. What VOID is — and is not
VOID is an anonymous-from-other-users, location-aware, ephemeral space for short-lived Stories and the conversations they start. Content is designed to disappear after the limited time shown in the app, and conversations end with the Story that started them. We don’t guarantee that any content will be seen, delivered, stored, or retrievable, or that anyone will be in range. Treat everything as temporary.
VOID is not an emergency service, crisis line, or health, counselling, or dating service, and does not monitor for, guarantee detection of, or promise intervention in emergencies. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services (000 in Australia, 911 in the US).
3. Location
Your device computes a coarse area code so Stories can reach people around you. Our servers never receive your exact coordinates, and other users never see your location — only that a Story is in range of theirs. Radar range tiers are shown in the app; some are part of VOID+.
4. Your account, your number, and anonymity
Sign-in. Phone number + one-time SMS code. One person, one account.
Your number. We use it to keep VOID real — one person, one account. Other people never see it. Within the service we work from a one-way code (hash) derived from it for account integrity and safety enforcement. The number itself stays in our authentication system so you can sign back in, and we only ever touch it there to sign you in, or if a life is at risk or the law requires it. Details in the Privacy Policy.
Anonymity is user-facing. Other users don’t see who you are. VOID itself is not anonymous from its own safety systems, service providers, or the law.
Presence identity. The name others see is a system-assigned word. No profiles, photos, bios, or followers. Keep your phone secure; activity on your account is your responsibility. Don’t impersonate anyone, misrepresent your age, or try to identify, track, or de-anonymize any user.
5. Identity reveal is consent-only
Nobody’s identity is shared unless both people choose to reveal, through the in-app Reveal flow, using verified linked accounts. Never pressure anyone to reveal. Delivered reveals are available for the limited time shown in the app, then removed.
6. Your content and our license
You own what you create. So the service can function, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, transcribe (for voice), moderate, and delete your content, for operating, securing, and improving the service. The license ends when your content is deleted, except for content preserved under Section 11.
Ephemerality, honestly stated. Content disappears from the service on the schedule shown in the app. Disappearing from the app is not the same as beyond the law: reported or safety-flagged content can be preserved, and illegal content is preserved and reported as the law requires (Section 11).
Voice is transcribed and checked server-side before it becomes visible or audible to others; voice that can’t be transcribed and checked is not published. Story authors can revisit a read-only, anonymized copy of their Story’s public conversation for a limited period shown in the app — by replying to a Story you acknowledge this. Vault keeps are retained as shown in the app for your plan.
7. Objectionable content and abusive behaviour — zero tolerance
VOID has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour, in any surface of the service (Stories, replies, Private Lines, voice and its transcripts, and any other feature).
“Objectionable Content” means content that:
- (a) sexualizes, exploits, or endangers anyone under 18, or attempts to contact, groom, or solicit a minor;
- (b) threatens, incites, plans, or glorifies violence against any person, group, or place;
- (c) harasses, bullies, or intimidates any person, or attacks people on the basis of protected characteristics;
- (d) discloses another person’s — or recklessly your own — identity, contact details (including phone numbers and email addresses), precise location, or other private information;
- (e) encourages, instructs in, or glorifies suicide or self-harm (expressing your own distress or seeking support is not, by itself, Objectionable Content);
- (f) is illegal, or solicits, facilitates, or provides instructions for illegal activity, including offering or arranging the sale of drugs or other illegal or controlled substances; or
- (g) constitutes spam, scams, deceptive commercial solicitation, automated/bulk posting, the posting of links/URLs (VOID is a no-links service), or the solicitation or offering of sexual services for payment or anything of value.
“Abusive Behaviour” means engaging in or attempting any of the above; targeting, pressuring, or coercing another user, including pressuring anyone to reveal their identity; extorting, blackmailing, or attempting to obtain money or anything of value from any user through threats, pressure, or the exploitation of their content or identity (including “sextortion”); attempting to identify, track, or de-anonymize any user; evading a ban, restriction, or block, including by re-registering; or interfering with VOID’s safety systems.
Adult content. VOID is an 18+ service. Textual adult content between adults is permitted in Stories only, is labelled and hidden by default, and is displayed only on a user’s explicit action. Everything in this Section applies to it in full; anything involving minors or non-consensual activity is prohibited absolutely.
8. Moderation, reporting, blocking, and enforcement
You acknowledge that we may, with or without notice: filter or refuse content before it is posted or delivered; remove or restrict content; limit features; suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts; and maintain enforcement records (including a hashed identifier) so bans survive account deletion and re-registration. We use automated systems (including AI-assisted classification) and human review; final enforcement authority rests with human review. We don’t warrant that all objectionable content will be detected.
Visible consequences. Consequences applied to your account are visible to you; we don’t covertly suppress accounts. Reporting and blocking: in-app tools let you report content and users — including dedicated reasons for minor safety and illegal content — and block any user, silently and comprehensively. We review reports promptly, prioritizing urgent categories. Appeals: contact support@voidsocial.app; our decision following review is final to the extent permitted by law.
9. VOID+ subscriptions
Purchases go through the Apple App Store or Google Play under that store’s terms; we never see your card. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled in your store settings. Prices, trials, and included features are shown at purchase. We may change VOID+ features prospectively; material reductions will be notified in-app. Refunds are handled by the store under its policies; nothing here excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. VOID+ is personal to your account.
Threshold tier — good standing. The closest Radar tier (“Threshold”) is available only to VOID+ subscribers in good standing. If your account is flagged in safety reports by three different users within a rolling 30-day window, or is otherwise restricted under Section 8, Threshold access is placed in a provisional suspended state pending human review. If review clears the reports, access is restored promptly and the cleared reports don’t count toward this condition. If review upholds them, the suspension stands until your account returns to good standing. All other VOID+ features continue throughout. Suspension under this Section — including brief provisional suspension pending review — is not a fault or failure of the service; where review clears the reports, restoration is the remedy. Where review upholds them, the suspension results from your own conduct and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we don’t provide refunds, credits, or extensions for it. This condition is stated where VOID+ is offered.
10. Avoid List (VOID+)
The Avoid List lets you avoid encountering specific people you know: with your permission, the app reads contacts you select (or numbers you enter) so you and those people don’t surface for each other. Numbers are hashed on our servers immediately; raw numbers are discarded and never stored. Contact names never leave your device. The hashes are used solely for mutual suppression, are capped as shown in the app, and are deleted when you remove an entry or delete your account. The Avoid List will never tell you — or anyone — whether a person is on VOID. Only add numbers of people you personally know; you’re responsible for having a lawful basis to provide them.
11. Safety, preservation, and disclosure
Notwithstanding VOID’s ephemeral design, we may preserve content and associated records where reported, flagged by safety systems, or required for legal compliance, and may disclose them: (a) where required by law, including mandatory child-safety reporting and preservation; and (b) voluntarily, in good faith, where we believe an emergency involving danger of death or serious physical injury requires disclosure without delay — under logged, criteria-bound controls. Details in the Privacy Policy.
12. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, retention, processors, and your rights. It’s part of your agreement with us.
13. VOID’s intellectual property
The service — app, design, radar interface, presence-word system, brand, software — belongs to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for personal non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and store rules. Feedback you send may be used without obligation.
14. Technical acceptable use
Don’t access the service other than through the official app; scrape or bulk-collect data; use bots or automation; probe or bypass security, rate limits, moderation, or age controls; reverse engineer except where law permits; or introduce malicious code.
15. Third-party services
Sign-in SMS, infrastructure, moderation, and verified account linking use third-party processors (listed in the Privacy Policy). Linked-account verification (X, Telegram) is subject to those platforms’ terms; app distribution and billing are subject to Apple’s and Google’s terms.
16. Termination
By you: delete your account in the app at any time — see Account Deletion. Deletion removes your content, linked handles, presence, and account data; a hashed enforcement record survives to keep bans effective, and content already under a legal hold is retained as the law requires. By us: under Section 8, or on notice if we discontinue the service. Sections that by nature survive (including 6, 11, 13, 18–21) survive termination.
17. Service changes and availability
VOID is in early access. We may change, pause, or discontinue features or the service; where practicable we’ll give reasonable notice of discontinuation. Nothing here limits non-excludable statutory rights.
18. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including uninterrupted availability or that moderation will detect all harmful content. Australian Consumer Law: nothing in these Terms excludes consumer guarantees or other rights that can’t lawfully be excluded; to the extent permitted, our liability for breach of a non-excludable guarantee is limited to re-supply of the services or the cost of re-supply.
19. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) we’re not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary loss, loss of data, or loss of opportunity; (b) we’re not liable for the conduct or content of any user, online or offline — you use an anonymous, location-aware service at your own judgment and are responsible for your own safety if you meet anyone; and (c) our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and AUD $100. Nothing in this Section limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
20. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the service, except to the extent we caused the loss.
21. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Before formal proceedings, contact support@voidsocial.app and we’ll try to resolve the issue within 30 days. Subject to the paragraph below and any consumer rights letting you sue where you live, disputes go to the courts of Victoria, Australia.
22. App-store terms (Apple / Google)
These Terms are between you and us — not Apple or Google. To the extent required by the stores: Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance, support, or warranty for the app (those are our responsibility); in case of failure to conform to an applicable warranty, Apple may refund your purchase price and has no other warranty obligation; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them; you represent you’re not in an embargoed country or on a prohibited-parties list; your use must comply with the applicable store’s terms.
23. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We’ll post updates here and give in-app notice of material changes. Continued use after the effective date means you accept them; if you don’t, stop using VOID and delete your account.
